Military Mondays – Wedding Service Providers Give Back to Military Couples
“Military Mondays.” service personnel get help with wedding planning. Thanks to the Rev. Christopher Tuttle and his wife, Chaplain Mary Cyr-Tuttle, who officiate 6 military weddings were held on Monday in San Diego. The Tuttles’s idea was simple, let’s give back to military personnel. San Diego has a large military population.
The idea came to Rev. Christopher Tuttle after a Marine called asking him to perform a ceremony because an elopement service canceled at the last minute. “It was one of those epiphanies where, after the ceremony, he handed me the payment and I said, ‘Just keep that. Let’s make this a true Military Mondays and Semper Fi,’” he said.
Military Mondays. is the code name for this military mission. The Tuttle’s own Vows From the Heart Ministries and have been conducting the free weddings for active duty military personnel for nearly 10 years. Tuttle said he decided to start offering free military weddings on Mondays, a day when he typically rested.
Military Mondays ceremonies were also sponsored in part by Visit Oceanside as part of the city’s 10-day Valentines celebration. The weddings took place on the grounds of the Oceanside Marina Suites, overlooking the mouth of the harbor, and the couples received free flowers, photography, music by a DJ and a small cake.
This is a fantastic way for the wedding service providing community to give back!
